The Kia EV6, an all-electric vehicle, was awarded the title of North American Utility Vehicle of the Year™ by the North American Car of the Year jury. This marks the second time in three years that a Kia vehicle has received this honor, and the first time a Kia EV has won.
“Since its launch, the Kia EV6 has been inspiring customers and media critics around the world with its advanced engineering and bold design. As the embodiment of Kia’s new brand direction, the EV6 is contributing to a dramatic shift in Kia’s brand perception and prestige globally,” said Ho Sung Song, President and CEO, Kia Corporation. “Following numerous prestigious accolades, including the 2022 European Car of the Year Award, this latest honor from the North American Car of the Year jury is further evidence that the EV6 is not only a highly regarded utility vehicle, but also an exemplary EV. We accept this recognition with humility and will continue our efforts to push our company further forward, always with our customers’ experience at the core of what we do.”
The North American Car of the Year jury, made up of 50 automotive experts from various media outlets, selected the Kia EV6 as the North American Utility Vehicle of the Year™. The evaluation process included testing a range of vehicles from sports cars to pickup trucks, and evaluating criteria such as innovation, design, safety, performance, technology, driver satisfaction, user experience, and value.
The EV6 stands out for its exceptional performance, fast charging capabilities, available onboard power, and unique cabin design utilizing innovative materials. It also boasts advanced driver assistance systems, a wide range of connectivity features, and an energy-efficient heat pump system. This win is a significant achievement for the EV6 as it is a key part of Kia’s “Plan S” strategy which aims to launch at least two electric vehicles per year and have a full lineup of 14 electric vehicles by 2027.
