General Motors has just introduced a Chevrolet FNR-XE concept car in China. The Chevrolet sedan is the first EV from the American manufacturer and was developed on GM’s Ultium Battery and Ultium Drive technology architecture with the company’s development capabilities in China.
The manufacturer calls this electric sedan a very premium and futuristic design. For the luxury prototype, the recessed front grille features the Chevy crystal logo, the hallmark of the horizontal headlights.
Chevrolet says the FNR-XE Concept’s low front end pays homage to the iconic American muscle car family.
The Chevy FNR-XE Concept also enhances the sedan’s body structure with the “Slip-Back Design” which was created to reduce wind resistance. and a large glass area that extends from the windshield to the rear glass, giving it an elegant impression. Unbelievably luxurious, the deeply sloping C-pillar evokes the spirit of a graceful coupe.
Unfortunately, the interior hasn’t been disclosed, nor the specifications available, but Chinese media have speculated that the FNR-XE is a compact sedan closely related to the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV.
Local reports also claim that a concept-inspired mass-segment production model will debut in China next year, and it is likely that the car will be equipped with a front-wheel drive system similar to the Chevy Equinox EV.
The Equinox EV is available in a variety of electric motors, including 210 hp, 328 Nm (2WD) and 290 hp, 469 Nm (AWD), capable of running 402 – 482 km/charge WLTP (250 – 300 miles).
