BMW i3 immediately injected dead. However, BMW has a unique way before permanently discontinuing the production of electric cars. In 2011, BMW launched an electric vehicle project called Project i and the i8 and i3 were born. For the i8, production has been discontinued since 2020. This year it is the turn of the i3 to stop production.
However, BMW did not immediately stop production of the i3. This German manufacturer issued the last special edition for the i3.
This special edition is called the HomeRun Edition. The number is also very limited, only 10 units in the world. Of course, many parts are made differently from the standard version.
For the exterior, this eco-friendly car uses two color choices of BMW Individual Frozen, namely Frozen Dark Gray and Frozen Red II.
In addition, the i3 HomeRun Edition is also equipped with 20-inch rims, adaptive headlights, electric glass roof, and others. As for the interior, the limited edition i3 gets leather and a Harman Kardon speaker system.
Since its launch, the i3 has sold 250,000 units worldwide, including later with the HomeRun Edition. This car only lasted one generation.
Although this electric car is injected dead, but the BMW factory in Leipzig, Germany, will continue to operate. Instead, the plant will produce the next generation of electric versions of the Mini Countryman and assemble the e-drive and battery components.
