Police in India’s eastern state of Bihar have ordered 1,100 electric motorcycles from Revolt Motors for patrolling operations. The manufacturer is required to complete deliveries by January 2027 but aims to supply the entire fleet by the end of November 2026.
The motorcycles will be handed over to Bihar Police in Patna, the state capital. The order represents a large-scale institutional deployment for Revolt Motors, which has focused on electric motorcycles in India’s two-wheeler market.
BlazeX Selected for Police Operations
Bihar Police has selected the BlazeX, one of the higher-priced models in Revolt Motors’ electric motorcycle range. The model has an ex-showroom price of 134,990 rupees (approximately €1,268), excluding registration charges and insurance.
Revolt Motors currently offers six electric motorcycle models, with prices ranging from 99,999 rupees (approximately €940) to 144,950 rupees (approximately €1,362), before registration and insurance costs.
The BlazeX uses a mid-mounted electric motor supplied by Indian manufacturer Sona Comstar. The IP67-rated motor produces 4.1 kW of power and 37.4 Nm of torque.
Power comes from a 3.24 kWh battery pack using NMC cells sourced from CATL. Both the motor and battery pack carry an IP67 rating.
Battery and Performance Specifications
According to the manufacturer, the BlazeX accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in 5.1 seconds and has a stated top speed of 150 km/h. Its claimed range is 150 km under the Indian Driving Cycle (IDC).
The 3.24 kWh battery takes approximately four hours and 45 minutes to charge from zero to 100% state of charge. The battery can also be removed from the motorcycle and charged separately using a conventional power socket where a dedicated charging point is unavailable.
These features provide flexibility for fleet operators managing charging across multiple patrol locations.
Revolt Expands Institutional Sales
Revolt Motors began selling electric motorcycles in August 2019 and has delivered more than 60,000 units to date.
Anjali Rattan, chairperson of Revolt Motors’ parent company RattanIndia Enterprises, said the Bihar Police order represents an opportunity to expand the company’s presence in institutional mobility.
“Securing an order for 1,100 electric bikes from Bihar Police is a significant step for Revolt. Institutional mobility presents a different set of requirements from individual ownership, and engagements of this scale give us an opportunity to take our products into real-world operating environments. We see institutional adoption as an important avenue for expanding the role of electric bikes in India.”
The deployment will add a substantial electric motorcycle fleet to Bihar Police’s patrol operations, while providing Revolt Motors with a large institutional customer beyond the individual consumer market.
