Geely Auto’s Galaxy brand has launched the Cruiser 700, its first rugged off-road SUV, in China with a starting price of 189,800 yuan ($28,190). The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) offers up to 305 km of electric range under China’s CLTC test cycle and a combined system output of up to 830 kW (1,113 hp) in its highest-powered version.
The SUV went on sale on Saturday with six variants, including five standard versions and a Land Ark special edition. Official prices range from 189,800 yuan to 259,800 yuan for the standard lineup, while the special edition is priced at 379,800 yuan. The entry price is 10,000 yuan, or about 5%, below the starting price announced during pre-sales in September.
Geely Galaxy is also offering introductory incentives, including a 6,000 yuan purchase-tax subsidy and a 4,000 yuan insurance subsidy. These reduce introductory prices to between 179,800 yuan and 369,800 yuan. Eligible buyers can receive an additional 10,000 yuan trade-in subsidy, bringing limited-time prices to between 169,800 yuan ($25,220) and 359,800 yuan.
Geely Galaxy Reports Strong Initial Orders
Shortly after the launch event ended, Geely Galaxy announced on Weibo that firm orders for the Cruiser 700 had exceeded 10,000 units within the first 12 minutes.
The model made its debut on July 24 and opened for pre-sales on September 15. At the time, the company reported more than 43,900 orders within 60 minutes of the pre-sales opening. Those earlier reservations were not equivalent to confirmed purchases or completed sales.
The launch places Geely Galaxy in China’s competitive off-road SUV segment, where rivals include BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao brand and Great Wall Motor’s Tank lineup.
Off-Road SUV Features and Dimensions
The Cruiser 700 is built on Geely’s GTA architecture, developed specifically for new-energy off-road vehicles. It features a five-seat cabin and measures 5,085 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 2,900 mm between the axles.
Its exterior follows traditional off-road SUV styling, with a box-shaped body, a side-hinged tailgate and an externally mounted spare tire. Inside, the vehicle retains a physical gear selector and dedicated controls for functions such as driving-mode selection.
The cabin runs Flyme Auto 2, while comfort features include massage seats and an onboard refrigerator. These features position the SUV for both everyday family use and outdoor travel.
Powertrain Options Deliver Up to 830 kW
The Cruiser 700 is offered with several plug-in hybrid powertrain configurations, combining a turbocharged petrol engine with electric motors.
Two front- or rear-drive configurations, each using a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a single electric motor, deliver a combined system output of 350 kW (469 hp). Both accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and provide a CLTC-rated electric range of 305 km, with a combined range of 1,770 km.
Two all-wheel-drive versions pair a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with three electric motors. Their combined output reaches 690 kW (925 hp), enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. These variants offer a CLTC-rated electric range of 280 km and a combined range of 1,520 km.
The Dingfeng version combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with three electric motors and all-wheel drive. Its combined output rises to 830 kW (1,113 hp), while the official 0-to-100 km/h acceleration time is 3.95 seconds. Its CLTC-rated electric range is 270 km.
CATL Supplies LFP Battery Packs
All four variants equipped with the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine use a 47.14-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack with cells supplied by CATL.
The battery system supports a peak charging rate of 6C. The manufacturer has not provided additional charging-time figures in the launch information.
The Cruiser 700’s combination of long claimed electric range, multiple powertrain configurations and off-road styling expands Geely Galaxy’s product offering as Chinese automakers compete across the plug-in hybrid SUV market.
With the model now on sale in China, its initial order performance and subsequent deliveries will help establish its position in the segment.
