Sany has delivered 15 electric heavy-duty trucks to Indonesian mining contractor Saptaindra Sejati as part of efforts to expand zero-emission mining operations in Indonesia.
The companies recently held a handover ceremony at the Sany Intelligent Truck Industrial Park in Changsha, Hunan Province, before the vehicles were shipped to Indonesia.
Saptaindra Sejati purchased Sany’s SE588 electric heavy-duty truck model after previously testing two units at mining sites in Indonesia beginning in late 2025.
According to Sany, the trial vehicles operated in mining activities involving a gross combined weight of 220 tonnes and demonstrated reliability under complex operating conditions and tropical rainforest climates.
The Chinese manufacturer said Saptaindra Sejati has also committed to a future procurement plan involving nearly 100 additional trucks, although further details were not disclosed.
Sany produces the SE588 in two configurations.
The Composite version has a gross vehicle weight rating of 80 tonnes and a kerb weight ranging from 12.6 to 13.6 tonnes.
The larger Super version carries a gross vehicle weight rating of 120 tonnes and weighs approximately 14.6 tonnes.
Both versions use a centrally mounted 480-kilowatt electric motor paired with a six-speed automated manual transmission.
The trucks are equipped with a 588-kilowatt-hour battery pack capable of battery swapping within five minutes.
The battery system also supports dual-gun fast charging, allowing charging from 20% to 80% in approximately 55 minutes.
Sany said the SE588 can achieve a driving range of up to 445 kilometres on a single charge.
Lincoln Liang, Sany Group director and chairman of Sany Truck, said the partnership reflected broader trends in industrial electrification and regional cooperation.
“Against the backdrop of global energy transition and deepening China-Indonesia cooperation, Sany will continue to leverage its full industrial chain advantages,” Liang said.
“Drawing on our leading smart manufacturing strengths in new energy, we will join hands with your company to build a global benchmark for zero-carbon mines,” he added.
