Nio said it has delivered the 70,000th unit of its third-generation ES8, underscoring continued demand for the flagship electric SUV despite ongoing supply chain challenges.
The milestone delivery took place in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, less than a month after the model surpassed 60,000 cumulative deliveries on February 1. Nio said the ES8 recorded retail sales of 17,645 units in January, ranking as China’s best-selling large SUV and the top-selling model priced above 400,000 yuan for two consecutive months.

The ES8, which starts at 406,800 yuan ($58,340), is positioned as a core profit driver within Nio’s portfolio. The company previously forecast it expects to achieve its first quarterly profit in the fourth quarter of 2025, supported in part by sales of higher-margin models.
Nio is scheduled to release its unaudited fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 financial results before U.S. market hours on March 10.
The delivery milestone comes amid renewed supply chain pressure. Nio recently said that starting next month, ES8 production will temporarily adopt an alternative technical solution due to shortages of signal processing chips used in the audio system. This marks the second production adjustment for the model since launch related to semiconductor supply constraints.

Despite these challenges, demand for the ES8 appears resilient. The company is also preparing to expand its premium lineup further. Co-founder and President Qin Lihong recently said a larger flagship SUV, the ES9, is expected to debut in April, officially launch in late May and begin deliveries on June 1.
