Xiaomi has halted production of the first-generation SU7 electric sedan as it prepares to introduce an updated version in April, the company said.
The final first-generation SU7 has rolled off the production line and is being delivered to its owner, founder and Chief Executive Lei Jun said during a live video broadcast on Tuesday.

“This marks the official end of production for the first-generation Xiaomi SU7,” Lei said, adding that cumulative deliveries for the sedan were approaching 370,000 units. He later clarified on Weibo that deliveries had exceeded 381,000 units.
Launched on March 28, 2024, with deliveries beginning the following month, the SU7 was Xiaomi’s first vehicle model. Positioned as a rival to Tesla’s Model 3, the sedan enabled Xiaomi to gain rapid traction in China’s electric vehicle market, averaging close to 20,000 monthly deliveries.

Xiaomi began pre-sales for the updated SU7 on Jan. 7 at a starting price of 229,900 yuan ($33,270), representing a 14,000 yuan, or 6.48%, increase over the previous starting price of 215,900 yuan. The adjustment narrows the price gap with the Tesla Model 3 from 19,600 yuan to 5,600 yuan.
In China’s EV sector, official launch prices typically come in below pre-sale pricing. Xiaomi’s EV unit said in January that the next-generation SU7 is expected to debut in April. The refreshed model will come standard with LiDAR and upgraded smart-driving hardware.

The updated SU7 was listed in a regulatory catalog published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology last month, clearing a key step toward market launch.
In addition to the standard version, Xiaomi also offers the high-performance SU7 Ultra variant. However, current sales momentum is largely driven by the YU7 SUV, launched in June 2025, which competes with Tesla’s Model Y.
