Li Auto has begun rolling out its OTA 8.2 software update, introducing upgrades across driver assistance, smart cockpit and smart electric systems, as the Chinese automaker continues to refine the comfort and practicality of its vehicles in urban driving environments.
The update, which started on Jan. 21, enhances Li Auto’s VLA driver assistance model through behavioral reinforcement learning. By integrating millisecond-level steering and pedal inputs, the system improves both lateral and longitudinal control, delivering smoother car-following and more natural driving behavior in congested city conditions such as traffic jams, mixed traffic and unprotected turns, the company said.

VLA capabilities have also been extended to charging scenarios. When a driver sets a destination to a Li Auto supercharger via voice command or navigation, the system can pre-allocate a parking space, guide the vehicle to park autonomously under NOA, and automatically open the charging port. The feature is currently supported at more than 1,400 supercharger stations and is expected to be rolled out nationwide in phases.
For refreshed L Series models equipped with the AD Pro chip, OTA 8.2 enables City NOA functionality. The system is powered by computing hardware from Horizon Robotics, allowing end-to-end driver assistance for urban lane cruising, autonomous lane changes, traffic light recognition and obstacle avoidance, according to Li Auto.

Smart cockpit updates focus on safety and personalization. A new Pet Mode maintains cabin climate control and enables remote monitoring through the mobile app, while the AI assistant “Li Xiangtong” adds an Art Frame feature that generates static or dynamic screensavers from user-uploaded images. The system can also synchronize displays with Pet Mode, showing custom avatars.
Additional features include narrow-road imaging in the head-up display, faster cabin heating, and automatic driver seat adjustment using facial recognition. Entertainment upgrades include the addition of the game Super Phantom Cat 2 and improved high-fidelity audio support for Soda Music and NetEase Cloud Music.

In the smart electric segment, range-extended models gain battery pre-heating when navigating to charging stations, improving charging efficiency in cold conditions. The L and i series also introduce customizable safety settings such as “driver-only door unlock,” allowing users to tailor unlocking behavior based on time and location.
Li Auto said the OTA 8.2 rollout reflects its ongoing investment in full-stack self-development and artificial intelligence, as it seeks to enhance everyday usability and comfort across its intelligent driving and in-car experience.
