China’s LiDAR manufacturer Seyond said on December 16 that it has secured a designated supply partnership with GAC Group, with the first jointly developed vehicle scheduled to enter mass production in 2026.
Based on publicly available information, the nomination involves one of GAC’s new energy vehicle brands. Under the agreement, Seyond will supply high-performance LiDAR hardware together with perception software solutions for the designated model. The collaboration is built on GAC’s research and development capabilities spanning Level 2 to Level 4 autonomous driving, as well as the automaker’s large-scale market presence.
Seyond said the partnership is expected to provide extensive real-world deployment scenarios for its Robin E1X LiDAR product, supporting data validation and system optimization as autonomous driving technologies move toward wider commercialization.
At the product level, Seyond operates a dual-track portfolio strategy, comprising the high-performance Falcon series and the platform-oriented Robin series. The Falcon series follows a 1550-nanometer technical route and has been deployed across nine Nio models, with cumulative shipments exceeding 600,000 units. Seyond said this positions the Falcon line as a mature product validated through long-term, large-scale use.
The Robin series, in contrast, is based on 905-nanometer and 940-nanometer technical routes and is designed to address broader mass-market applications. Seyond said the Robin W variant has already been deployed at Nio’s fourth-generation battery swap stations, supporting coverage across nine vertical and nine horizontal corridors that span 19 major urban clusters.
According to the company, the dual-technology approach allows it to meet the performance and redundancy requirements of advanced autonomous driving systems while also adapting to cost constraints for vehicles priced at around RMB 100,000 ($14,000). This aligns with automakers’ increasing focus on scalable, production-ready solutions.
Seyond reported that in the first nine months of 2025 it delivered about 181,000 automotive-grade LiDAR units, representing a year-on-year increase of 7.7%. Cumulative deliveries of the Falcon series have now surpassed 600,000 units.
Earlier this month, on December 10, Seyond listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange through a de-SPAC transaction, becoming the third Chinese LiDAR manufacturer to go public in Hong Kong.
