Xiaomi EV, the electric vehicle unit of Chinese electronics maker Xiaomi, is rumored to be preparing a facelifted version of its SU7 electric sedan for launch in the second quarter of next year, according to an automotive industry commentator.
Automotive blogger Han Lu said in a post on Chinese social media platform Weibo that the updated Xiaomi SU7 would feature multiple upgrades and carry a price increase of about RMB 20,000 ($2,840). Han is a well-known car reviewer in China with around 9 million followers on Weibo. Xiaomi EV has not commented publicly on the report.

Xiaomi officially launched the SU7 electric sedan on March 28, 2024, marking the company’s entry into China’s competitive EV market. The model was positioned as a rival to Tesla’s Model 3 and currently starts at RMB 215,900, undercutting the Model 3’s starting price of RMB 235,500 by RMB 19,600.
If the rumored price increase is implemented, the facelifted SU7 would be priced at a level close to the Tesla Model 3, potentially intensifying competition in the mid-size electric sedan segment.

The SU7 recorded strong deliveries in the first half of this year, reaching a monthly peak of 29,244 units in March. However, delivery momentum has since moderated, partly due to Xiaomi EV’s expanding lineup. In November, SU7 deliveries fell to 12,520 units, down 45.93 percent year-on-year and 16.49 percent from October.
In contrast, Xiaomi EV’s YU7 electric SUV, which began deliveries in late June, has gained traction. The YU7 delivered a record 33,729 units in November, edging up 0.20 percent from the previous month. Looking ahead, local media reports suggest Xiaomi EV is planning to introduce additional models, including the YU9 large SUV, the YU7 GT performance-oriented SUV, and the SU7 L sedan.

According to a December 10 report by Sina Tech, the YU9—internally codenamed “Kunlun”—would be the company’s first extended-range electric vehicle, while the SU7 L is expected to target the executive sedan segment and the YU7 GT to focus on high-performance driving.
