Metier Technologies has established Metier Technologies Europe, a new subsidiary headquartered in Turin, Italy, as part of its plan to expand its hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2ICE) repower technology for commercial fleets across Europe. The European division, chaired by David Caponi, will lead the company’s efforts to promote hydrogen-powered mobility and strengthen its presence in the region’s hydrogen ecosystem.
The company said the move marks a key step in its global growth strategy and comes ahead of its participation in the Hydrogen Technology World Expo in Hamburg, Germany, next week. There, Metier will showcase its latest hydrogen engine platform and engage with hydrogen producers, refuelling providers, and fleet operators from across Europe.

Metier’s European strategy focuses on repowering DAF LF and Iveco Eurocargo vehicles, offering fleet operators a cost-effective route to decarbonisation by converting existing diesel trucks to run on hydrogen. The company said this solution enables zero-emission operation while maintaining range and payload capacity, helping fleets gain access to Low and Ultra Low Emission Zones.
“Launching Metier Technologies Europe in Turin marks a significant step in building our presence across the mainland European hydrogen landscape,” said James Budgett, Managing Director of Metier Technologies. “Our aim is to put the Metier name in front of as many hydrogen suppliers as possible, communicating Metier’s partnership model that delivers offtake for hydrogen producers plus competitively priced hydrogen and a diesel-level TCO for repowered fleets.”

David Caponi, Chairman of Metier Technologies Europe, said the city offers a strategic base for expansion. “Turin provides the ideal foothold to expand our European operations, connecting us with both leading vehicle OEMs and an emerging hydrogen supply chain,” Caponi said. “We’re already engaging regional partners to support fleet decarbonisation through repowering, helping operators meet emissions targets quickly and cost-effectively.”
Metier’s H2ICE system is designed to offer lower total cost of ownership compared with battery-electric or fuel-cell alternatives in heavy-duty applications. The company said the technology maintains strong performance over long duty cycles and heavier payloads while enabling zero-emission operation, aligning with tightening environmental standards.
