Blink Charging UK Ltd., a subsidiary of Blink Charging Co., has partnered with Bradford Council to roll out new public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations under the government’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) program. The first phase of the project will see 104 charging ports installed across the district, supported by £282,000 in LEVI funding.
The initiative marks the beginning of a larger plan to deploy up to 1,000 EV chargers across more than 230 sites in Bradford over the next two years. All chargers will be installed, owned, and operated by Blink Charging at no financial cost to the council. The project, backed by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA), prioritizes areas with limited charging access and aims to improve availability for residents without off-street parking.
“This significant investment in Bradford’s EV charging infrastructure will help give drivers greater confidence to switch to electric vehicles,” said Alex Calnan, Managing Director of Europe for Blink Charging. “We’re proud to support the council’s commitment to cleaner, more sustainable transport.”
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said the rollout “will ensure residents and visitors have access to dependable charging options,” noting that the project comes at no cost to the council thanks to national grant funding.

West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin said the new charge points would benefit people without access to home charging and contribute to improved air quality. “Investing in a reliable charging network is crucial for building a greener, better-connected West Yorkshire,” she said.
The Bradford project forms part of a regional strategy to expand the public charging network, improve accessibility, and accelerate the shift to low-emission transport in one of the UK’s key urban areas.
