Electrify America has received the EV Charging Innovation Excellence Award at the 2025 Battery Awards, held during The Battery Show North America.
The honor recognizes the company’s efforts in advancing electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure through large-scale deployment of battery energy storage systems (BESS) that support its nationwide Hyper-Fast charging network.

The award highlights Electrify America’s progress in improving access to high-speed EV charging while addressing grid limitations that can restrict deployment. The company has installed more than 170 BESS units—representing over 65,000 kilowatt-hours of storage capacity—marking the largest rollout of its kind in North America.
According to Rob Barrosa, president and CEO of Electrify America, the technology plays a crucial role in expanding reliable charging access. “Our battery energy storage systems act like large backup batteries for our stations,” he said. “They allow us to store energy during off-peak times and deliver it when drivers need it most, helping us bring Hyper-Fast charging to more communities even where the grid is limited.”

By integrating BESS technology, Electrify America can reduce reliance on costly grid upgrades while maintaining the high power output required for rapid charging. The company said the approach enables it to accelerate the rollout of Hyper-Fast charging stations nationwide, supporting the growing adoption of electric vehicles and strengthening the U.S. charging infrastructure.
