Polish bus maker Solaris has introduced the Urbino 10.5 electric, a new battery-powered city bus, at the Busworld trade fair in Brussels. The compact 10.5-metre model joins the company’s growing Urbino electric range and is designed to offer improved manoeuvrability in dense urban environments, with a claimed range of up to 600 kilometres under the E-SORT standardised on-road test cycle.
The new Solaris Urbino 10.5 electric is equipped with Solaris’ modular drive system, featuring a 240 kW synchronous motor and high-energy battery packs of around 350 kWh, with configurations exceeding 400 kWh available.

The bus can be charged via a plug or pantograph, though Solaris has not disclosed specific charging capacities. According to the manufacturer, the design allows for a flexible roof layout to accommodate larger battery sizes while maintaining space efficiency.
The bus can carry up to 85 passengers, including 33 seated, and has a turning circle of under 17 metres. Solaris says the model was inspired by its 12-metre Urbino electric, which was updated in 2024 and now features a 600 kWh battery offering a similar driving range.

The new compact bus shares core components from its larger counterparts, enabling easier maintenance and lower operating costs. Battery systems continue to be supplied by Polish company ICPT, using LFP cells sourced from CATL.
The Urbino 10.5 electric also includes modern comfort and safety features such as air conditioning with a CO₂ heat pump, advanced driver assistance systems, and the optional Mirror Eye camera-based mirror replacement system. Solaris highlights a recyclability rate of nearly 97%, positioning the vehicle as one of the most sustainable in its segment.

With the addition of the Urbino 10.5 electric, Solaris says it now offers Europe’s most comprehensive zero-emission bus portfolio, spanning battery-electric, hydrogen, and trolleybus models from 9 to 24 metres in length. Alongside the new model, the company also showcased the Urbino 12 electric and Urbino 18 hydrogen buses at its Busworld stand in Brussels.
