IM Motors, the electric vehicle (EV) unit of SAIC Motor, has introduced an updated version of its LS6 SUV, now featuring extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants alongside existing battery-electric options.
The updated LS6, unveiled on September 10, is the first model to use IM Motors’ Hengxing EREV system, equipped with CATL’s Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery. The system is designed to deliver extended range through a larger battery than conventional EREVs.

Shortly after launch, IM Motors reported on Weibo that the updated LS6 received more than 10,000 orders within 27 minutes. The SUV measures 4,937 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width, 1,671 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,960 mm.
The updated LS6 offers five BEV variants, including four rear-wheel-drive and one all-wheel-drive version, priced from RMB 197,900 ($27,790) to RMB 269,900. Rear-wheel-drive models are powered by motors rated at 245 kW or 300 kW, reaching 0–100 km/h in 6.4 or 5.4 seconds, while the all-wheel-drive variant achieves the sprint in 3.48 seconds. Battery options include a 76-kWh LFP pack and a 103-kWh ternary lithium battery, providing CLTC ranges of up to 802 km.

The EREV version is equipped with a 1.5-liter engine as a range extender. The rear-wheel-drive variant delivers 230 kW and accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. Two battery options—52 kWh and 66 kWh—offer CLTC ranges of 370 km and 450 km, with combined fuel and battery ranges of 1,400 km and 1,502 km respectively.
