SK Signet, a South Korean manufacturer of electric vehicle charging solutions, said it will integrate Hubject’s Plug&Charge functionality into its entire DC charger portfolio, with deployment expected to begin by September 2025.
The partnership will give SK Signet customers access to more than 1,250 charge point operators worldwide via Hubject’s eRoaming network. In turn, users of the Hubject network will be able to charge at SK Signet stations without separate registration or authentication. Hubject will also designate SK Signet as the first official “EVSE Check Partner” in Korea, certifying Plug&Charge capability and communication between vehicles, management systems, charging stations, and the Plug&Charge network.
Plug&Charge technology, based on the ISO 15118-2 standard, enables automatic vehicle authentication at compatible charging points, allowing sessions to start without payment cards or mobile apps. Hubject CEO Christian Hahn said, “This partnership represents what our industry needs to accelerate global EV adoption. SK Signet brings strong technical capabilities and global market presence, while we deliver proven Plug&Charge expertise. Together, we’re enhancing charging reliability worldwide.”
Michael Jongwoo Kim, CEO of SK Signet, said, “Plug&Charge technology is a core technology that enhances security and compatibility between chargers and vehicles. Through this cooperation, we will further strengthen our competitiveness in the global market and provide users with a safer and more convenient charging experience.”
The announcement follows Hubject’s recent partnership with Spain-based Place to Plug, which will integrate Plug&Charge into its Connect Platform and drive app across 5,000 charging points by the fourth quarter of 2025. Hubject has also formed similar collaborations with ChargeHub, Tritium, Allego, and Zemetric.
