Mercedes-Benz Trucks has introduced its TruckCharge consultancy service in the UK, offering free expert guidance to heavy goods vehicle (HGV) operators transitioning to electric trucks. The programme, announced on Wednesday, is designed to assist with strategic planning, infrastructure development, and digital solutions integration for electric fleets.
The free consultancy provides tailored support in areas such as route and cost analysis, funding options, depot infrastructure planning, and the use of digital charging management tools. Customers can also take advantage of seamless payment options via the Mercedes ServiceCard.
“As every depot and business is different, we’ve introduced the TruckCharge free consultancy service to demonstrate to customers how to overcome any perceived obstacles to running electric trucks,” said Ibrahim Kraria, eConsultancy Manager at Daimler Truck UK. “For example, we can help them decide the infrastructure required for their current and future eHGV truck requirements and give a clear analysis of the costs and benefits they should consider.”
TruckCharge was first established as a Daimler Truck subsidiary in June 2024 to consolidate charging-related offerings. In the UK, the launch of the consultancy service includes a partnership with Vital EV, an infrastructure provider responsible for charging hardware installation and 24/7 maintenance support. The company also offers solar integration and battery storage solutions for depots.
Available charging solutions range from 50 kW for overnight use to ultra-rapid 400 kW systems, with financing provided through Daimler Truck Financial Services. The finance unit expanded its services in 2024 to cover not only electric trucks and buses but the entire ecosystem required for zero-emission vehicle deployment.
The support package includes guaranteed on-site technical assistance within defined service levels and over-the-air diagnostics. The goal is to ensure high reliability for electric models like the eActros and future vehicles in the range.
“Anybody transitioning to electric trucks is bound to have lots of questions and operational issues to manage, so we developed our TruckCharge service to provide comprehensive solutions for them,” Kraria added. “Our partnership with Vital EV provides the highest levels of support you’d expect from Mercedes-Benz Trucks.”
The consultancy complements Daimler Truck’s broader infrastructure initiatives. In March, the company announced it would open its own truck charging sites to the public under the TruckCharge brand. These plans align with the goals of Milence, a joint venture between Daimler Truck, Volvo Group, and Traton, aiming to install at least 1,700 high-performance charging points across Europe by 2027.
