While electric vehicles (EVs) have not yet achieved price parity with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, several attractive lease deals are currently available across the United States. One notable option is the 2024 Nissan Ariya, which is advertised at an enticing $99 per month for a 36-month lease.
However, potential lessees should be aware of the associated requirements: this offer necessitates a substantial down payment, which many experts advise against, effectively bringing the monthly cost closer to $238. Additionally, this promotional rate is limited to Denver.
For consumers interested in purchasing the Ariya outright, the base model, the Engage FWD, is priced at a starting point of $39,590, not including delivery fees. While this figure is competitive for an electric SUV of its size, leasing may offer a more financially viable option for many customers, highlighting the appeal of the promotional lease deal.
The lease promotion pertains specifically to the base Ariya Engage FWD, with the advertised monthly rate of $99 contingent upon an upfront payment of $3,329 due at signing.
It’s important to note that making a down payment on a lease is generally not advisable, as it can result in the loss of that money if the vehicle is totaled or stolen. In such cases, GAP insurance would cover the remaining balance, but the lessee would not recover the initial payment.
When accounting for the down payment, the effective monthly cost for the Ariya rises to $238. This rate remains competitive, especially when compared to the smaller Fiat 500e, which has an effective cost of $282 per month under a new lease offer. The Ariya also presents a more affordable leasing option than the Kia Niro EV, available from $336 per month, the Kia EV6 at $346, and the Volkswagen ID.4 starting from $410 per month.
However, it’s crucial to recognize that the $99 lease deal for the Ariya is exclusive to Denver and leverages various incentives, including a $5,000 Colorado Innovative Motor Vehicle Credit, $10,000 in bonus cash, and a $1,000 loyalty bonus. This offer is available only until November 4.
The entry-level Ariya Engage FWD is equipped with a 63 kWh battery pack, whereas other models feature a larger 87 kWh pack. The range for the base model is rated at 216 miles (347 km), with an electric powertrain producing 214 horsepower and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque. Although these specifications may not lead the class, they are adequate for the average consumer.
