Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian has entrusted Continental to tires of the RPV 500 and RPV 700 electric vans. Both electric vans were developed for the world's leading e-commerce entrepreneur from the United States (US) Amazon.

For the North American market, Rivian Prime Vans (RPVs) are now equipped with OEM Continental VanContact A/S tires which are also all-season ex works tires measuring LT245/70 R16.

Reported by its official website on Tuesday (22/3/2022), VanContact A/S tires have been developed to meet Rivian's specific requirements. The focus is primarily on high mileage and low rolling resistance to optimize travel with high payload capacities.

The VanContact A/S tread design features wide lateral grooves as well as wide longitudinal grooves. This results in improved water distribution and removal and ensures better braking, aquaplaning and traction performance on wet roads.

These tires are also equipped with additional snow traction that interlocks against the snow surface and ensures safe performance on snow roads. Block-to-block joints throughout the tread pattern provide high rigidity, so the tires have good steering response, ensuring also excellent handling. Thanks to an optimized tread compound, mileage and performance on snow trails can also be improved.

Worldwide, Continental as a leading tire manufacturer has been trusted by various brands as their OEM tire supplier. Globally, Continental also supplies the most successful electric vehicle tires.

In the van segment, this premium tire manufacturer also provides summer, winter and all-season tires for a wide range of vehicles for commercial and personal use. In Europe, Continental provides the VanContact A/S Ultra all-season tires, which are sturdy, durable and characterized by high mileage and excellent snow performance.

The Continental VanContact A/S LT245/70 R17 119/116 Q is approved in North America for both OEM and spare tires for the Rivian RPV 500 and 700 vans.
