NIO, a player in the electric vehicle (EV) market, has unveiled an App Store tailored for the smart cockpits of its vehicles. This new feature is poised to elevate the in-car experience by offering a range of popular apps optimized specifically for the vehicle's central screen.
The eagerly awaited App Store for NIO's vehicle cockpits is set to launch in the coming days. It will debut with a collection of over 40 apps that have already been meticulously adapted, and these will be available for users starting from September 22, as announced by the electric vehicle company during the NIO IN 2023 innovation day event.
This App Store represents a comprehensive content ecosystem thoughtfully designed by NIO for its users. Collaborating with partners, NIO is facilitating the creation of native apps that harness the vehicle's capabilities in a secure manner.
By the end of September, the App Store is expected to boast more than 40 live apps, with seven of them being adapted for vehicles for the first time, according to NIO. Among the forthcoming applications are popular platforms like Xiaohongshu, a social media platform, Youku, a video streaming service, and Kuaishou, a short video platform.
Beyond the introduction of these apps, NIO's vehicle central screen will also have the capability to display a simulated phone interface when connected to the newly launched NIO Phone. This innovative smartphone facilitates seamless connectivity and content sharing between the phone and the vehicle.
The NIO Phone enhances the interaction between users and NIO vehicles, including the ability to display a virtual phone on the vehicle's central screen. This virtual interface allows users to directly access and use apps installed on the NIO Phone, further enhancing the in-car digital experience.
