Hyundai Kona EV Becomes Indonesia’s Best Selling Electric Car in 2021

New car sales in Indonesia throughout 2021, total sales (factories to dealers) were recorded at 887,202 units and retail sales (dealers to consumers) 863,348 units. The data is based on a report from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo).

The report also attaches the annual sales of electric and hybrid vehicles that are paved in the country. In the electric car line, the Hyundai Kona EV is the best-selling, followed by the Hyundai Ioniq EV and the All New Nissan Leaf.

As for hybrid vehicles, the Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 A/T Hybrid is the car with the highest sales throughout 2021, followed by the Nissan Kicks e-Power, and the All New Camry 2.5 Hybrid Mi.

The Hyundai Kona EV recorded sales of 360 units, the Hyundai Ioniq EV sold 228 units, and the All New Nissan Leaf with 42 units.

For the Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 A/T Hybrid, sales in 2021 will reach 1,304 units, Nissan Kicks e-Power will be 592 units, and the All New Camry 2.5 Hybrid Mi will be 279 units.

The Toyota C-HR 1.8 A/T Hybrid also recorded sales of over 100 units, to be exact, 157 units. Underneath it is the All New Corolla Altis 1.8 Hybrid which sold 94 units.

Toyota's Smart Mobility electric vehicles, namely COMS and C+Pod, have also started to record sales of 20 units and seven units, respectively. The following is a list of wholesales sales for 2021 electric and hybrid car models:

All Electric vehicle

Hyundai Kona EV: 360 units
Hyundai Ioniq EV: 228 units
All New Nissan Leaf: 42 units
Lexus UX 300e: 26 units
Toyota Coms EV: 20 units
Toyota C+Pod EV: 7 units
DFSK Gelora E (blind van and minibus) 2 units

Hybrid vehicles

Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 AT Hybrid: 1,304 units
Nissan Kicks e-Power: 592 units
Toyota All New Camry 2.5 Hybrid Mi: 279 units
Toyota C-HR 1.8 A/T Hybrid: 157 units
Toyota All New Corolla Altis 1.8 Hybrid: 94 units
Lexus ES 300h (ES 300h and 300h Ultra Luxury): 44 units
Outlander PHEV: 35 units
BMW i3 S A/T: 2 units
Toyota Century Hybrid 5.0 A/T: 1 unit.
