Kia Motors has announced an expansion of its 2024 EV6 lineup in the United States, introducing two new trim levels in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (e-AWD) configurations. These additions come as Kia aims to cement its presence in the growing electric vehicle (EV) market.

The first among the new offerings is the 2024 EV6 Light Long Range RWD, featuring 225 horsepower and a 77.4 kWh battery. This model is positioned between the Light and Wind trims within the EV6 lineup and is priced at $45,950, excluding a $1,325 destination fee. The vehicle's range is estimated at 310 miles (499 km), and it carries a $3,350 premium over the entry-level Light RWD, which starts at $42,600.

Notably, the EV6 Light Long Range RWD allows Kia to price slightly below Tesla's popular Model 3 Long Range, which starts at $45,990. However, there is a catch: While the Model 3 qualifies for a full $7,500 federal EV tax credit upon purchase, the EV6 offers the same discount only if leased.

Also new for 2024 is the EV6 Light Long Range in an all-wheel-drive (e-AWD) configuration. Priced at $49,850, this variant represents a $3,900 increase over its RWD counterpart but also boasts an improved power output of 320 horsepower. The all-wheel drive does come at the cost of range, which drops to 282 miles (454 km).

Further enhancing the lineup, the high-performance 2024 EV6 GT now offers an EPA-estimated range of 218 miles (351 km), a 12-mile improvement over the 2023 model. Across all EV6 trims, standard charge port lighting and charge door marking have been introduced, aimed at facilitating easier access and usage.

Sales for the revamped 2024 EV6 lineup are expected to commence in the coming weeks.

In a related development, Kia unveiled a limited-edition version of the EV6 at last month's Detroit Auto Show. This special run celebrates the model's designation as Utility Vehicle of the Year at the North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards. Limited to 1,000 units, each commemorative edition will feature a Deep Forest Green paint job.

• EV6 Light e-AWD $49,850 282 miles 77.4 kWh, 320 hp
• EV6 Wind RWD $48,700 310 miles 77.4 kWh, 225 hp
• EV6 Wind e-AWD $52,600 282 miles 77.4 kWh, 320 hp
